Eight months, in the blink of an eye. We now have a full on mobile baby, into everything and ready to destroy the house at a moment's notice. We need to get a move on with baby-proofing more of this house now, but there never seem to be enough hours in the day for just NORMAL tasks, much less extra ones. However, Lark is just at one of the sweetest and funniest ages. Frankie is stuck to me like glue and has changed so much. I can tell that this fall is going to be one of my favorite moments in motherhood with them.
Likes:
There isn't much this girl DOESN'T like.
Every food
Every toy
Every person that gives her attention and smiles
Holding her feet while she poops
She ESPECIALLY loves:
When her sister tries to make her laugh
Exploring outside of her playpen area
Mornings
Dislikes:
Sleeping through the night
Going to sleep without being rocked
Being out past her bedtime
Most of her baby things that kept her contained-jumper, pack n play, reclined seat for eating.
Schedule:
We're TIRED. Lark has hit that 8 month sleep regression and is clearly growing in some more teeth. So these days, we are up around 6 and we are lucky it isn't earlier. She eats a 4-6 oz bottle while we get ready for the day. Daniel takes both kids to daycare/pre-k at about 7:45 and then its work work work until 4:45 when I pick them up. Lark is eating a solid for dinner now along with her bottle, and I can already tell we need to up her intake to something with more fiber/texture. Lark likes to be in bed by around 6:45, but DON'T WORRY. She's up again nightly at about 10:30 to eat. If we are lucky, that's the last one. Sometimes, there's a 2 am wake up in there, too. Like I said, we are tired. But she's cute.
The weekends are a little more free-flowing, but the sleeplessness is still there. :)
Features:
Girl is BIG these days. Chunky and so strong! Still two teeth on the bottom, nothing on the top. Her eyes have moved to brown, a little darker than mine, but still not as dark as Daniel's. The dimples live on and so does her hilarious hair! Its so fluffy and funny and her hairline is an exact replica of Daniel's. She's in size 3 diapers and 6-9 month clothing, but some of those are starting not to fit. I have NO clue what she weighs, but I suspect its somewhere near 18-ish lbs. She's just a round little chonk of happy and chill when she's awake, but the love of exploring and being included has begun.
Firsts:
DAYCARE! Lark started daycare on August 1 at the same facility as Frankie (who just moved into her first year of Pre-K). Dropping them off together has been so nice.
We have a full on crawler
She can move from sitting to crawling easily
Words... kinda. She says "dada" on repeat, but the association isn't quite there yet
Weekend alone with daddy and sister. I went out of town for a few days.
Trip to the nature center
Cheese
Trip to the apple orchard/farm
Challenges:
SLEEP. We have one final round of house guests arriving soon and then after that, it is time for sleep training. Also, entertaining/supervising two mobile kids and making sure Lark doesn't get a hold of any of Frankie's small and dangerous toys.
Thoughts:
One of my most favorite things is watching Frankie try to cheer Lark up when she is sad. She loves to make silly faces at her and just be a goofy goofball to make her laugh. Having a sister has been one of the most rewarding things in my own life, and I am super hopeful that Lark and Frankie will continue to feel that way about each other. I know we have some rough years ahead with two small girls fighting over toys and just about everything else, but I hope that underlying comradery stays.
