Week 36: The Date is Set

 

Hooray for not being sick with an upper respiratory infection anymore! Boo for now having a bad lady bits infection (sorry, TMI). Hooray for Christmas! Boo for not being able to take time off because parental leave doesn't exist in the U.S. and I need to save every minute of my PTO. Hooray BIG TIME for being one week closer to this little girl being in my arms instead of in my uterus!

On Friday morning, I had a check up and my Strep B test. It was my first physical exam of the pregnancy and I was not at all shocked to hear that my cervix was very closed. I was, however, shocked to learn that my doctor had forgotten to schedule my c-section and that now, we would have a little trouble finding a spot for me before my due date! The nurse doing the scheduling could absolutely tell that I was upset with this news. A 7:30 AM surgery appointment was created for me on January 10th, a few days short of my due date. Who know if I will go that long (I sure hope not!), but even if I do, having a DONE deal date is nice.

How far along? 36 weeks
Maternity clothes? Yep, and everything is tight/itchy/annoying
Stretch marks? No... just the belly button discoloration
Ankle Watch: Still fine, just sore from extra weight. This time last pregnancy, I was rapidly gaining weight from all the fluid in my ankles... now I'm losing weight..
Sleep: I'm awake every single day at 3 AM. Even if I take a Benadryl. I am exhausted. 
Best moment(s) this week: My mom, sister, and brother-in-law arriving for Christmas celebrations on Wednesday! 
Miss Anything? Full night's sleep, wanting to eat meals.  
Movement: Usually just rolling during the day, but then BIG PAINFUL movements at night when I lay down.
Food cravings: Ice, ice baby. I can't stop crunching on ice. Sorry, dentist.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Contractions in the evening are making me sick for sure. My stomach gets so hard and painful. Her movements when I lay down at night, too. There is no more room at this inn, child!
Gender: Gal
Labor Signs: More, please? I'll take labor at any time now that I am term.
Pregnancy Symptoms: Large and in charge! Insomnia. Upset stomach all week this week. Not much of an appetite. I haven't gained a pound since Thanksgiving.
Belly Button in or out? Out and that weird discoloration from last time is increasing.
Rings on or off? Off besides my new anniversary ring because it is a little bigger than the others.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Grumpy, which I feel like is fair. I'm ready to get this show on the ROAD.
Looking forward to: Christmas!
