Week 22: Psychotic Nesting
Nesting is in full swing. With the added energy of my second trimester and some added anxiety about adding a child to this crazy house, I've kind of hit the psychotic nesting phase. I bought a commercial grade carpet steam cleaner. We traded in our cars and bought a big fancy new Subaru Ascent family SUV. I started using google calendar and a task list to make sure we get certain cleaning things completed monthly that I had been neglecting for a while. The nursery is MOSTLY done, just decorative items need to be added at this point.
Daniel and his dad have been working hard on completing the little basement kitchenette this weekend. The parts are all there and painted, we just need to assemble them now. It will be a little bit longer before we can get the full plumbing together, but just having the cabinets and counter in place and a nice big fridge for guests will make a huge difference. I really want it to be ready for my sister and other guests to come when the baby gets here.
Obviously, I know that this energy I have now will pass when the third trimester shows up and for the first few months postpartum, but I am absolutely going to take advantage of it for the time being. Before typing this, I sprayed all the spiders out of the windows of our basement level! Yuck!
How far along? 22 weeks
Maternity clothes? I'm not even trying anything else
Stretch marks? Still no.
Ankle Watch: Better this week.
Sleep: Lots of stress dreams this week. My jaw and shoulders are killing me.
Best moment(s) this week: The full on baby rave parties now happening in my tummy
Miss Anything? Being comfortably full. I'm either STARVING or BURSTING.
Movement: Still pretty small, but lots none-the-less.
Food cravings: Still on the sweet breakfast food and mexican food all the time for every meal. My perfect day looks like pancakes or toaster strudels for breakfast. Bagel for a snack. Quesadilla for lunch with a fountain coke. Tacos and refried beans with lots of sour cream for dinner. Italian ice for dessert....... can you tell I am hungry?
Anything making you queasy or sick: Meat. Ugh. This part is so hard. I feel very guilty about my eating habits with Daniel trying hard to cook heathy for himself.
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Nope.
Pregnancy Symptoms: I started leaking some colostrum from my breasts this week, along with the occasional pain and "dropping" feeling in them, like I did when I was feeding Frankie. Nesting has arrived big time.
Belly Button in or out? It's like a saucer at this point.
Rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Both. I am definitely stressed out about money, bummed about still feeling awful all the time, and having a second kid and all that kind of stuff, but I am making progress on house projects and cleaning.
Looking forward to: The guest room/basement kitchen getting done. The cabinets are painted and the counter top is complete. We just have to fix one part of the plumbing and put it all back together. I suspect that I will be spending much of my maternity leave down there with the baby so I don't disturb Daniel at work in the main floor of the house. Can't wait to see it all come together.
