Week 17: This Florida Heat

Hello, Florida and hello, intense heat/humidity! Having lived in Florida for 33 years, I really didn't think coming back would phase me too much, but GOD. As soon as I got out of the car this weekend, I melted into a puddle of "nope." As you can see, my photo is in a different spot this week and we had a little assistant join me.

We've had a CRAZY busy week between visiting my mom in her new apartment, preparing for my dad's memorial party, and seeing as many friends as we can while chasing a toddler. It has definitely been a parenting challenge, but we're doing our best. We've pretty much just thrown the sleep schedule out the door for the next week and decided to roll with the punches. Its good to be back and see everyone, especially knowing that in a few months, I wont be travelling for a while. Once I get to that 7/8 month mark, I am not going far from our hospital... lesson learned from Frankie's delivery. Also, picturing a 6-7 hour drive with a newborn and a toddler makes me break out in hives.

Unlike Frankie's pregnancy, I still don't feel completely in my stride... like I haven't fully accepted that I AM, in fact, pregnant and that we will have a new baby in the family in 2022. I am hopeful that with more defined movements and our ultrasound in a few weeks, it will feel more "real" and I can get my brain into gear. At the moment, it just kinda feels like I am a balloon that can't drink wine.

How far along? 17 weeks
Maternity clothes? Yes, but I'd rather not wear a dang thing in this heat.
Stretch marks? No.
Ankle Watch: Fine, but sore.
Sleep: Traveling with a toddler means NO sleep for absolutely anyone.
Best moment(s) this week: Seeing our friends and family in Florida. Frankie went to Harper's 4th birthday party on Saturday and watching her on the water slides with all the big kid friends from Florida warmed my heart... it also gave me some gray hairs, but she did great.
Miss Anything? Frankie's bedroom door at home that locks.
Movement: I haven't sat still awake enough to feel her, really, which makes me sad and nervous. I know its still early, but I expected to feel her so much more the second time around. Our next ultrasound is at the end of the month and I am ready to see her!
Food cravings: Nothing so much this week. Its mostly been a "utilitarian" food situation with being out of the house, but I did steal all the sour patch kids from Frankie's party bag....
Anything making you queasy or sick: Greasy meats, like bacon.
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: No
Pregnancy Symptoms: Cramps, constipation, boob pain, joint pain/carpal tunnel. Pretty even other than that.
Belly Button in or out? In
Rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Really, a mix. While I do love seeing friends and family, it is also stressful with a toddler that doesn't sleep anywhere but home in her own room.
Looking forward to: WNC weather on Sunday when we get back north!
