Week 9: Armpit Sunburn
This past weekend, I planned a special surprise day on the river with our friends for Daniel. We got a babysitter for seven whole hours- quite a long time to be away from Frankie on a weekend- and floated down the French Broad River. We had such a great time, but definitely didn't apply enough sunscreen or at all evenly. My armpits have lovely little burns. Daniel's stomach is really red. Wondering when we will learn our lesson about the sneaky NC heat!
I also met my OB for the first time this week. She seems very nice and agreed completely with my desire to schedule a c-section delivery for this baby. If all goes well, I will deliver this baby at 39 weeks, well rested, and on-schedule. She also decided that it was probably a good idea for me to get NIPT testing, a DNA testing of the baby to check for chromosomal abnormalities. I'll be delivering the baby when I'm over 35, and while there's no family history of issues, it will make us all breathe a little easier. Also, this means we get to find out the baby's gender via DNA in just a few weeks!
How far along? 9 weeks
Maternity clothes? Yes. I can still wear some of my PJs, but yes.
Stretch marks? The lines I've always had on my hips are getting more prominent again
Ankle Watch: Still fine.
Sleep: Making it through without naps some days, but still pretty tired.
Best moment(s) this week: Seeing the baby again unexpectedly at my first regular OB appointment. Baby looks like a little monkey!
Miss Anything? Actual hunger without nausea accompanying
Movement: Nothing
Food cravings: Sweet breakfast items. Pancakes, toaster strudels, blueberry bagels, chocolate granola bars, pastries. Sometimes, if Daniel talks about a different food enough (subs, for example) I will want them... but mostly I just want apple toaster strudels.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I made the mistake of giving up my anti-nausea medication to see if it would make me less exhausted (it includes a sleeping pill). Instead, I was tired and severely nauseous all day for few days. Lesson learned, take the meds and take the naps.
Gender: I'm kind of getting eager to find out. Only a few weeks to go!
Labor Signs: No
Pregnancy Symptoms: Nausea, exhaustion, stuffy/sneezy nose. This week, I've added in being super emotional. I'm fun to be around.
Belly Button in or out? In
Rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody. I can't shake it. I am ready for the second trimester!
Looking forward to: Finally being done with my IVF-related medications. No more progesterone shots in my booty cheeks as of TODAY!
