Week 10: Emergencies
Father's Day AND Daniel's birthday fell this week, which meant a lot of celebrating! I am so relieved to finally not have to use nasal spray daily, not having to take the anti-nausea medication, AND finally having some energy and an appetite. It meant I was finally able to really enjoy meals and being able to clean the house a little. I even started a painting project in Frankie's room!
.... that's what I had written so far for this week when we got the call. Frankie had a seizure at daycare on the playground and for a while, the world stopped. I didn't care about pregnancy symptoms, or what day it was, or if I felt good or bad. Everything became about Frankie.
She recovered after about an hour, but it was the scariest hour of my life. I can't begin to describe what seeing her like that did to us. She was transported by EMS to a local hospital and then I rode with her in an ambulance to a bigger hospital in Asheville. Lots of tests and time in the pediatric ER later and we were sent home with a diagnosis of a Febrile Seizure. She will hopefully never have one again, but we will be watching her like a hawk when she gets sick. As of today (Friday), she is back in school and doing just fine. Dan and I are still very shaken.
And so, my blog post for this week is late. I absolutely expected late updates/blogs/etc with my second kiddo, but not for this reason. We're all just relieved she is okay.
How far along? 10 weeks
Maternity clothes? I packed up my regular clothes this weekend and put them into vacuum bags. It's official!
Stretch marks? Nothing too serious yet
Ankle Watch: Joint pain in my ankles and knees, but no swelling
Sleep: Sleep was low on the priority list this week. After Frankie's seizure, I stayed up and watched her monitor for hours at night. If she would sleep in my bed, I'd make her... but she's like me. Sleeps better alone.
Best moment(s) this week: Feeling human! I had a handful of okay days this week.
Miss Anything? Being buzzed/relaxed thanks to a few drinks
Movement: Not yet... but getting hopeful
Food cravings: Steak and potatoes. Texas Roadhouse. But still mostly sweets. Could eat pancakes for every meal.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Laying on my stomach... I have GOT to stop that, but I am a stomach sleeper. I get random waves of nausea every so often, but nothing like it was.
Gender: My blood test is next week.
Labor Signs: No
Pregnancy Symptoms: Less nausea, but more joint pain and thirst. I had my first ZAP of lightning crotch this week. Forgot about those and not looking forward to it.
Belly Button in or out? In
Rings on or off? Still on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happier this week. The reduction in nausea and congestion symptoms is helpful. Obviously the events of this week make it hard to be impartial.
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender of this little one (hopefully) next week. I think it will help with my denial that I am having another child. I don't know how long our blood test results will take to come back, so it may be a few more weeks until we ca share news!
